If you think consumers are becoming more aware of mobile cyber threats, you’re right. But if you assume that means they’re taking steps to protect themselves, you might be surprised.
According to the Allot Global Consumer Security Survey 2025, conducted across six countries and more than 3,000 mobile users, consumer anxiety around mobile cybersecurity is at an all-time high. More than 60% of respondents say they’re worried about the security of their mobile devices. And yet, fewer than four in ten use any form of mobile protection.
This widening “awareness–action gap” paints a clear picture: people are concerned, but they aren’t acting. That inaction isn’t about apathy: It’s about friction. Complexity, cost, and skepticism toward third-party apps are keeping users unprotected, even as threats multiply.
Trust Is the Game-Changer
Here’s where telcos come in. Consumers may not trust unknown app vendors, but they do trust their mobile service providers. In fact, the survey shows that 84% of users would trust their provider to deliver cybersecurity protection, and nearly two-thirds would pay for a simple, effective, zero-touch solution.
That’s a powerful combination: high awareness, high trust, and an unmet need. Together, they add up to a significant opportunity for telcos to deliver real value and generate suplemental recurring revenue.
From Anxiety to Action
For mobile users, cybersecurity is no longer a niche concern. It’s an everyday issue that affects how they shop, bank, and connect online. Younger, more connected generations are particularly anxious about digital threats, yet paradoxically the least protected. It’s a perfect storm, and a clear call for telcos to bridge the gap with solutions that are hassle-free, always-on, and built right into the network.
When a security service requires no app to install, no settings to configure, and no drain on battery life it stops being “one more thing to manage” and becomes an integral part of the customer experience. That’s where the opportunity lies: to make cybersecurity effortless and accessible for everyone.
Turning Trust into Growth
The message is simple: subscribers already see their mobile provider as the gateway to connectivity. Now, they’re ready to see them as the guardian of their digital lives. With the right network-based offering, telcos can reinforce customer loyalty, reduce churn, and open new, sustainable revenue streams.
