Wi-Manx has deployed Allot NetEnforcer to optimize WiMAX services and offer innovative broadband service packages
SOPHIA, ANTIPOLIS – 5th July, 2007 – Allot Communications (NASDAQ: ALLT), a leader in IP service optimisation solutions based on deep packet inspection (DPI), today announced that the Isle of Man business wireless Internet service provider has deployed Allot's DPI-based bandwidth management solution, the NetEnforcer. WiMANX is using the solution to optimise the delivery of WiMAX and VoIP services to residential and corporate customers.
As competition in this field has been increasing in the region over the past few years, Wi-Manx made it a priority to continue to deliver their advanced services reliably and focus on customer satisfaction. The company designed and built their entire infrastructure to support these cutting-edge services and deployed the Allot NetEnforcer to ensure a consistently high level of service. In the first stages of deployment, Wi-Manx used the Allot solution to gain an insight into the kinds of traffic on their network. They then used the NetEnforcer to prioritise applications and gave time-sensitive applications such as corporate VoIP and online gaming a higher priority.
"Allot's solution provides us with greater transparency and visibility into what is actually going on over our internet connection. Previously I knew large amounts of bandwidth were being used but I didn’t know what by. Furthermore, we have prioritised corporate and residential time-sensitive applications so they are not hindered by other bandwidth-consuming services."
Using the Allot solution, Wi-Manx were also able to introduce new capped broadband service packages based on pre-allocated monthly quotas. This presented a significant progression from the traditional "all-you-can-eat" service packages offered in the Isle of Man region and a huge attraction to customers in search of a lower-cost alternative to the existing package. One of Wi-Manx's other main services is a next generation WiMAX wireless service. Wi-Manx use the Allot NetEnforcer to enforce policies that make it possible to offer these services at competitive prices and ensure a premium quality of service.
After looking into a number of competing alternatives, Wi-Manx decided to go with the Allot carrier-grade solution for its ease of integration and use, and the immediately perceived ROI it presented.
